Gilreath Auto Sales LLC is a family owned, licensed, independent automotive dealership located in Knoxville, TN.
What sets us apart from others....last year alone, we spent 31 days actually driving on a road course at roughly 15 events. If your passion is high performance driving, we understand the challenges you face trailering your cars to the track, keeping them running, getting them home, and explaining to others why you are in the garage making repairs again. If you don't know us, stop by and say hi to Ken (dad), Brad (son), and Gina (Brad's wife) Gilreath. We have made some amazing friends in the paddock and are always excited to meet new great people.
Most of us know each other by what we drive, so what have we been driving on the track?
Now that we have been introduced, we want to explain how XtremeTR came to be. Ken loves driving the TA2 Camaro; it's an amazing car that combines performance, safety, and beauty in a true race car. Brad and Gina love the MX-5 Miata; few other cars offer the same ratio of track performance to affordability to fun. We all want to drive and compete together, which led to a dilemma. What car offers the performance, safety, and the "cool factor" of TA2 Camaro, with the reliability and affordability of a spec Miata, plus the camaraderie and support of an amazing group of racers? There is only one answer - THUNDER ROADSTER.
Spec Thunder Roadsters with water cooled Yamaha motors are readily available for $5,000-$10,000. They only have one seat, so you need to be a solo driver, but once you reach that point they are an excellent HPDE car. They offer all the safety of purpose built race car, but at speeds lower than their Hayabusa powered big brothers. Drive the car as-is to learn, then when the motor is gone, you can replace it with another cheap Yamaha, or upgrade it to Hayabusa powered Monster.
If you are looking for high performance now, a used Hayabusa powered Thunder Roadster can be found for $15,000-$20,000. Unless you are currently driving a Miata, you will be shocked at the amount of money you save on tires, fuel, and brake pads. Your Hayabusa motor will most likely last several seasons, but when it's time for new one, they can be found with low mileage for between $3,000 and $4,000.
The value offered by Thunder Roadsters is undeniable, yet so many people don't understand their potential. We decided we want to share this with our community, and be part of helping grow the number of drivers taking advantage of this amazing platform.
